I've been asked some weird interview questions in my time. The one that stands out (and made it onto our list at number 10), asked whether I would have invaded Iraq if I were Tony Blair.
If I'd been applying for the job of PM then this might have been expected - as I was in fact going for a trainee reporter role at a tiny local newspaper, I was, I must admit, slightly thrown.
But that's the point. The questions on this list aren't just weird for weird's sake - they're there to make you think, to throw you off, and quite often a good answer can be the difference between your dream job and unemployment.
Laura DeCarlo, the head of Career Directors International, told The Telegraph that employers used unusual questions to discover which candidates were "creative under pressure".
'There might not even be a correct or realistic answer', explains DeCarlo. 'They want to see you develop a step-by-step response – and discover how easily you will quit.'
Hmmm. Useful to know.
And how did I answer my unexpected question?I said that if I had been Tony Blair, and was led to believe all the information about Saddam Hussein's WMDs was 100% accurate (which we now know it wasn't) - then probably, yes.
How would you answer the following questions? Let us know in the comments section below.
1.) Would Mahatma Gandhi have made a good software engineer?
3.) Just entertain me for five minutes; I’m not going to talk.
4.) Zombies have invaded earth, who’d be on your fighting team?
5.) If you were a miniature person trapped in a salad bowl, how would you escape?
6.) Rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 on how weird you are .
8.) How many piano tuners would you find inside the M25?
9.) How many people are using Facebook in San Francisco at 2:30pm on a Friday?
10.) If you were Tony Blair, would you have invaded Iraq?
14.) When there’s a wind blowing, does a round-trip by plane take more time, less time, or the same time?
15.) Given the numbers 1 to 1000, what is the minimum number of guesses needed to find a specific number if you are given the hint "higher" or "lower" for each guess you make?
16.) How would you cure world hunger?
17.) What would you do if you just inherited a pizzeria from your uncle?
